Portfolio School Project: Photoshop
Photo Editing with Photoshop
This PowerPoint illustrates six Photoshop Projects with a description of what was done to the photos. This was a great project to work on because of the scope and using two different programs. Also, I took all the pictures except the one of my wife and I in DC. It demonstrates a wide use of skills with different mediums.
Photoshop: An Amazing Tool for Web Design
Customers often don’t have photos that are ready to go into a website for many reasons. That is why a Web Designer has photo editing skill and the chose tool is Photoshop. There are some basic steps to get an image ready for a website. The most important when considering download speed is the file size. The size should be in KB’s not MB’s. There may be reasons for a large image but most of the time KB size is the best.
Another size aspect is the dimensions measured in pixels for high and width. If you only need a thumbnail then you don’t need a 1,000px image. Keep it small so you can reduce the file size, maybe around 350px.
Cropping is another basic need. A jumbo or banner image is wide and short where as your thumbnail is usually square. Since most pictures are taken square, a banner would cut out about half from the top and or bottom. So it is important to have an eye for what is the best part of an image.
Touch-up cover a much larger topic from removing red-eye to a whole object.
